What Are the Program Restrictions?

New construction is not eligible for rebates. The program is only for existing construction homes. A contractor must submit applications on the Xcel Energy Registered Contractor List. Larger discounts are available for income-qualified households. Find out if you qualify at the Energy Resource Center website.

How Does the Program Work?

Qualifying households and projects will receive an up-front discount from their contractor. Contractors submit applications and receive rebates based on the selected equipment and household income level. Contractors will apply for Xcel Energy rebates through the Energy Resource Center for income-qualified residents.

What Are Heat Pumps?

Heat pumps are an energy-efficient alternative to heating and air conditioning units. They work by transferring air instead of generating heat and can reduce electricity use by up to 50%. Talk with your Doctor Fix It Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric professional about what type of heat pump is best for your home and the Denver climate. Rebates are based on the type of pump and range from $4,500 to $9,000. Qualified households are eligible for up to $6,000 of rebates on installation costs.

What Are Heat Pump Water Heaters?

Like heat pumps, these water heaters pull heat from the air and transfer it to the water instead of generating heat. They are two to three times more energy-efficient than traditional water heaters and have lower operating costs. Rebates are available for up to $1,400 for a high-efficiency heat pump water heater and $3,200 for a smart version. Installation costs up to $6,000 are available for income-qualified residents through the Climate Action Rebate program.

Which Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Are Included?

The EV Charging Home Wiring Rebate provides up to $1,000, or up to $1,700 for income-qualified residents to assist with installing a Level 2 EV Charger. Currently, the eligible chargers are ChargePoint Home Flex and the Enel X Juicebox. Homeowners with Level 1 charges can use this rebate to upgrade their charger.

V2B or bidirectional chargers provide power back to the electrical grid at peak times to help keep up with electrical demand. They can also supply extra power for your home during a power outage. This trailblazing technology is available for up to $2,000 in installation costs or up to $4,000 of installed costs for income-qualified residents.

Will I Need an Electrical Power Upgrade?

Some energy-efficient installations will require an upgrade of your home electrical panel to support the extra electrical load. Homeowners can apply to receive an add-on rebate of up to $2,000 to cover the costs of a new panel and wiring or up to $4,000 for income-qualified residents. Your Doctor Fix It Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric professional can assess whether your home needs this additional upgrade.
